Our tests are highly sensitive and designed to be used on both asymptomatic individuals and those with symptoms concerning for COVID-19. We have specifically designed our high sensitivity RT-PCR test to detect virus as soon as possible following the viral incubation period. That is why we also recommend mid-nasal swabs at this point in the pandemic. False negatives can lead to a false sense of security and result in many more people ultimately becoming infected.
Medical history is important to the proper interpretation of your test result. ResourcePath physicians are going to look at your history from the intake form and correlate that with your test result.
If you test positive for COVID-19 virus, you are probably going to have a lot of questions! Our Medical Director understands this and can be a good first resource for what you can expect depending on where in the course of infection you are, when you need to consider going to the emergency room, how long you may have been contagious so you can begin the contact notification process and the CDC recommendations on length of quarantine. We can’t replace your own personal physician (if you have one), but we can get you a head start.

Step By Step Instructions for Symptomatic/Exposed Testing at ResourcePath
We offer appointments now 7 days a week at our Sterling location for drive up testing. Our address is 45945 Trefoil Ln. Ste 175, Sterling, VA, 20166.

If you need same day service after regular business hours or on Sunday, please call us at 571-375-0755 to check for availability.
When you book your appointment you will be asked for an email address. Please make sure to double check that the email is entered correctly. We will use this email to send you an intake form in which you will enter important information necessary to generate a formal report.
If you are testing with more than one person, please book an appointment for each person. This helps us generate a unique intake form for each person.
You will be asked to input your insurance information. If you do not have insurance, please indicate so.
Immediately after booking the appointment, you will receive an email from the ResourcePath Team (firstname.lastname@example.org) containing a green “open now” button and a password. When you receive the email, click the button, then copy and paste the password to open your intake form.
If you don’t see the email right away, please check your junk email or type “ResourcePath Team” in the search bar. If after checking spam and performing a search you still do not see the intake form immediately after booking, please email us at email@example.com and we will double check that the email you entered during the booking process is correct.
Please complete the intake forms as completely as possible. Please enter your full name as you wish to see it on your report. This should match your government issued ID.
If you do not have a local address or phone number, please use the address and phone number of your hotel or your host family.
Please indicate if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and the date of exposure (if known). This information will help us guide you if you will need a second test outside of an incubation period.

After you complete and submit the intake form you will receive an email confirming your appointment date and time.

Pull around to Unit 175 which is on the East side of the complex. Please remain in your car and wear a mask. If you need a mask we can provide you with one. A member of our team will be outside in front of our office and will hand you an envelope with your test kit and a typed requisition form. Please review your requisition form for accuracy and make any corrections necessary.
Follow the instructions provided for collecting your nasal swab sample. Watch a video demonstration by our Medical Director. If you need additional assistance, please let our staff know and we will help you. Please check the label on your sample tube for your correct name and date of birth. Place the sample in the biohazard bag and place the bag inside the envelope along with your requisition form.
Once completed, please hand the envelope with your sample to one of our staff, or alternatively you can put the sample in the large black dropbox outside of our office door.
Depending on the time of your appointment, we will call you either the same day or following day to verbally relay your result. We generally can follow up the call with an email with your formal report in 1-3 days. Frequently Asked Questions
Will insurance cover the costs of testing for travel?
Some insurance companies will cover non-medical COVID19 testing and others will not. Because we are out of network, we request upfront payment from travelers. If your company will cover travel testing, we are happy to provide you with a receipt so that you may submit a claim for reimbursement.
What if my test comes back positive or inconclusive?
With the prevalence of COVID-19 infection in the community, an occasional traveler will test positive, or “inconclusive” for virus. When this happens, we will call you immediately to relay our findings and obtain more information about your situation. Based on your history we may recommend repeat testing to ensure you are not contagious, or antibody testing to confirm a past COVID-19 infection.
If you have previously had COVID-19 infection, please note that our RT-PCR tests are very sensitive and can intermittently detect virus for weeks/months even after the active infection period (10-14 days) has passed. Since a negative result is required for travel, you may need to perform one or more repeat tests on subsequent days to achieve a negative result.
Do I need a doctor's order?
If you would like to be tested but do not have a physician, or you do not meet illness requirements for your physician, the Commonwealth of Virginia allows patients to order their own laboratory tests for Coronavirus. We can also test individuals younger than 18 with parental permission.
